The Brazilian Federal Supreme Court recognized  the gay (homoaffective) civil union on May 5 2011, and less than one year later (April 12 2012), the same Court recognized the fundamental right of pregnant women to stop pregnancy of anencephalic fetus. The right to stop pregnancy in cases of rape and life-threatening for the mother was already recognized by the constitution. This is Brazil legislating in favor of human rights instead of being conducted by religious believes.
